For the Potential Client: Do I Need a Color Consult or a Design Package?

Updated: Oct 28, 2022

Do you find yourself flustered debating which paint color to choose for your home? Are you hesitant to lean toward an interior designer because of cost or simply because you're just not sure what's offered? This one's for you!

If you know what you want to paint but aren't sure what color or sheen to go for, a color consultation is for you. Many painting companies or retail stores give you a paint quote but most don't offer guidance on which way to go. During a color consultation, your existing furnishings and home finishes are reviewed and your current vision for the space is discussed. All of this information goes into selecting the perfect color for your space. Anyone can pick a color they love but will it work in your home? This is all evaluated with the above information.

When going with a color consultation, keep in mind that this doesn't include material (tile, flooring, backsplash, fabric, etc) or furniture and decor suggestions, which is where a design package comes into play. Interior designers offer many design packages, anywhere from e-design to on-site jobs. While interior designers offer color suggestions and selections in their design packages, the package itself usually entails a lot more. If you want to give your room a new look and feel, a design package is for you.

One thing to keep in mind when purchasing any package is that interior designers offer their suggestions and personal opinion. While our work is educated and detailed, it's still our personal touch to a client's space which varies on a per client basis. Questionnaires and initial meetings are conducted to get a clear idea of client vision. Ultimately, you have to live with the result so it's important that the final decisions made in any form are that of YOUR personal choice.
